The idea behind this piece is the ultimate show of power over your defeated enemy, taking away the chance of him speaking in the afterlife. In this piece, the difference is that the enemy tongue is shown as a snake spine which symbolises his most likely offensive language before his death.
Materials used: shells, snake spine, glass beads, cassowary feathers from Papua New Guinea, conch shell beads, coconut natural fibre, dog teeth and synthetic sinew.
