The Secret Doctrine, the Synthesis of Science, Religion and Philosophy laid the foundation of modern Theosophy.
Theosophy, literally meaning “divine wisdom,” generally refers to the mystical and spiritual teachings of Blavatsky who helped found the Theosophical Society in 1875. Today the Theosophical Society is headquartered in Adyar, a neighborhood in Chennai, India, and claims an international membership of about 40,000 people.
The book gives the spiritual history of the development of the cosmos and of human life on earth. In doing this, Mme. Blavatsky drew on her impressive knowledge of myth and ancient scripture for verification of the lineage of her theories.
