The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large, athletic hound breed from Southern Africa, known for the distinctive ridge of hair growing along its spine in the opposite direction from the rest of its coat. Originally bred to track and corner large game, such as lions, it is also called the "African Lion Hound".
